RESPONSIBILITIES:
The purpose of the department is to manage the Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Ice and Rain Protection Systems (IRPS). The function of the Cognizant Engineer position within the department is to manage all the technical aspects of one or more of the sub-systems within the IRPS and to provide the technical input required to realize a design that is compliant with the system requirements document. The sub-systems of the IRPS are: Windshield Heat Control, Horizontal Tail De-ice, Wing Anti-ice and Engine Anti-ice.
Maintain and present to management integrated project schedule and status for one or more sub-systems within the IRPS.
Track and report status of action items related to design, development, certification and flight test related to one or more sub-systems within the IRPS.
Prepare and maintain functional test procedures to test the IRPS sub-system as installed on the aircraft.
Prepare and maintain functional interface control document(s) that identify the integration requirements between the IRPS sub-system and the aircraft avionics / electrical power system.
Prepare and maintain regression test procedures to test the avionics / electrical power system integration of the IRPS sub-system.
Conduct regression tests to ensure that the IRPS sub-system is integrated into the avionics / electrical power system per the released requirements.
Prepare, maintain and track issue reports associated with the IRPS sub-system to closure/resolution.
Provide technical and logistical assistance to manufacturing and flight test to resolve any technical issues associated with the IRPS sub-system.
Prepare / review qualification test procedures and qualification test reports associated with the IRPS sub-system.
Establish qualification test schedules with the supplier of the IRPS sub-system and coordinate Designated Engineering Representative (DER) support.

REQUIREMENTS:
At least 5 years experience in the design, development, aircraft integration and certification of one or more elements of the IRPS. The sub-systems of the IRPS are: Windshield Heat Control, Horizontal Tail De-ice, Wing Anti-ice and Engine Anti-ice.
Experience in preparing and maintaining schedules and presentations using the software packages contained Microsoft Office.
Experience in supporting manufacturing of aircraft from a technical standpoint.
Experience in preparing detailed functional test procedures.
Familiarity with aircraft/aerospace wiring practices and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schemata.
Experience in creating Crew Alerting System (CAS) logic. Knowledge of aircraft communication buses such as ARINC 429 is desired.
Experience in preparing/reviewing qualification test procedures for DO-160 tests. Knowledge of FAA processes and procedures related to qualification testing. A working knowledge of DO-160 is a requirement.
Knowledge of the DO-178B and DO-254 processes is a requirement.
Working knowledge of 14CFR23 or 25 and advisory circulars related to IRPS regulations. Previous experience in preparing or reviewing FAA certification plans is required.
